Celebrate San Antonio!

December 21, 2012

Beautiful, night shot of the Tower of Americas.

I don’t know how much revenue the New Year’s Eve Celebrate San Antonio event brings in for the city, but it has to be a pretty large amount. For good reason, too; it attracts more than 250,000 people to the downtown area! Many of the downtown hotels, as well as restaurants, have no vacancies on December 31st.

With that said, do you plan on heading to Celebrate San Antonio this year to welcome in the New Year? According to their website, “There is no other New Year’s Eve event of this size, with fireworks, and offered free to the public in the state of Texas.” That’s a very strong declaration, and I’d go just based on that statement alone.

The downtown party commences at 6:00 p.m. on S. Alamo Street between Market and Durango and throughout historic La Villita district. Like stated previously, admission is free and open to the public, and the festivities continue until 12:30 a.m. The highlight is the countdown to midnight and, of course, the Fireworks Extravaganza surrounding the Tower of the Americas.
