Mark Your Calendars, Fort Sam Houston: The Diwali San Antonio Festival of Lights Returns for Its 7th Year on Nov. 14!
November 6, 2015
Did you know that San Antonio is home to the country's only city-sanctioned Diwali festival? It's called Diwali San Antonio Festival of Lights, and the annual event, which will return for its seventh year in 2015, is known to attract nearly 15,000 people from all over the Lone Star State — and beyond.
But exactly is Diwali? In a nutshell, it's a Hindu festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. On Saturday, Nov. 14, this "festival of lights" will head to La Villita on the banks of the San Antonio River for six hours of family-friendly entertainment that will include traditional Indian dance, a lighted candle release, Indian handicrafts, Indian cuisine, and a fireworks display.
Perhaps best of all, Fort Sam Houston? The Diwali San Antonio Festival of Lights is free to attend!
