It’s the Month of the Military Child: Here’s Where to Find Events in Your Area
April 26, 2018
There are currently 1.2 million military children of active duty members worldwide, with approximately 2 million military children experiencing a parental deployment since 9/11. With so many military children around the world, it's important to show them our support during the Month of the Military Child, which takes place in April every year.
The Month of the Military Child was officially established in 1986, when Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger initiated this month-long celebration and the Department of Defense quickly honored her initiative. Since the Month of the Military Child began, there have also been many more awareness campaigns geared toward educating people about the struggles military children face, as well as support programs thorughout Department of Defense Dependent School System (DoDDS) all over the country.
