Experience one of San Antonio's most colorful, high-flying events at Fiesta San Antonio, a beloved area tradition for more a century. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the wild and wonderful occasion, so you can expect even more excitement from the parade and other activities.

The Fiesta Flambeau Parade began in 1891 to honor the heroes from the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Today, it's one of the largest celebrations in the country and it generates more than $285 million in revenue for the Alamo City. Approximately 3.5 million people attend Fiesta San Antonio each year, decked out in their brightest, more eye-catching costumes. Aside from the incredible parades like the Texas Cavaliers River Parade and the Battle of Flowers Parade, there are also live musical performances, Mexican cultural events, fashion shows and much more.

Discover Some of the Best Artists Around Fort Sam Houston During Contemporary Art Month

Support the local art and education communities in San Antonio during Contemporary Art Month, a celebration of the area's artist community that takes place throughout the month of March. Events are held at various art galleries, museums, performing arts spaces and schools around the area, and they're sponsored by numerous local companies and organizations.

Attend multisensory events at galleries like Blue Star Contemporary, Cinnabar Gallery and even UTSA Main Art Gallery, which even showcase works from area art students. Cultural exhibitions will take place at Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center and The Jackson Ranch in the Heart of San Antonio, while fashion and design enthusiasts will learn about textiles at the Northwest Vista College Palmetto Center for the Arts. If you're interested in getting a glimpse at the artistic process, you can even take tours of local artists' workspaces during the open studio tours. Cap off the festivities during the closing ceremony on April 10, when you'll enjoy live music and more.
